This camp is everything that our mechanics camp is with the added benefit of a space that is designed for empowering young girls in a workshop environment. They’ll have the opportunity to work on their own bicycles throughout the week discovering issues and working collaboratively to resolve them. This camp is designed for the girl that is ready to get her hands dirty and learn all about the systems of the bicycle! Girls Mechanics will have the chance to meet important women in the bicycle industry during field trips. They’ll have fun riding their bicycle outdoors, and build the skills they need to be independent stewards of their ride! Mechanics camp is limited to 10 campers to provide an enhanced learning experience. Campers will learn: Systems of the bicycle Adjusting and maintenance of bicycle systems Troubleshooting mechanical issues Communicating with professional mechanics Right of way and maintaining predictability Techniques for avoiding hazards Gear Requirement: Two-wheeled bicycle with gears and handbrakes Typical Mileage: 5-10 miles per day

Cycling Event - Camp-Bike-Afternoon Adventure-KFP
DescriptionFor Learn to Ride Camp graduates or any child riding independently (without training wheels) who is able to start, stop, turn and control speed independently. Our Afternoon Adventure campers will improve bike skills and confidence while exploring Kinder Farm Park's extensive paved and natural trail system and the nearby B&A Trail. Campers will learn how to ride safely in a group, and will work together to navigate to new destinations, often incorporating games, crafts, nature observation and scavenger hunts into each day?s bike ride adventure. Daily mileage will vary and campers will build endurance through the course of the week.Ages 5-12Required Equipment: bicycle without training wheels* (strongly suggest hand brakes and multispeed bike), helmet, bike gloves, water bottle or hydration pack and snack. Campers must be able to carry their own food and water independently and safely on the bike each day. Program is led by PedalPower Kids. Dig to Ride Mountain Bike Camp (Session 1)
St. Johnsbury Recreation, Kingdom Trails, the Caledonia Trail Collaborative, and The Village Sport Shop Trailside are pleased to announce "Dig to Ride" camp, a trail building and mountain bike camp for area youth entering grades 6-8 in the fall. Campers will learn about sustainable trail building while helping build a new community trail on the campus of NVRH as well as helping with a to-be-determined special project at Kingdom Trails. Of course, once we've done some work in the mornings, we will bus to Kingdom Trails where we will ride world-class single track! Info: Novice mountain bikers are welcome, however, participants should be in excellent physical health and WANT to be physically active all day, every day. ***Drop off and pick up will be at St. Johnsbury Academy on Brantview Drive each day. We will load the bus for our adventures at 8:30 AM and will return by 4 PM*** ***There will be a special bike drop off and bike inspection Monday night from 5-6 PM at a location TBD in East Burke (So you don't have to lug your bike back and forth every day) Pickup on Thursday will be at 4 PM in East Burke also*** Campers should bring a backpack with clothes for all weather, bug spray, sunscreen, snacks, and lunch each day as well as a Camelback style backpack to ride with. Also, be sure to bring a bathing suit and towel. There are some great local swimming holes we will visit. HELMETS REQUIRED. If you need to rent a bike, we will send you additional paperwork. Bikes will be provided by Village Sport Shop Trailside in East Burke and are 1x10 hardtail 27.5+ bikes.
