Wakefield 10k and 1K Mini Run

The Wakefield 10k Road Race is organized for and by Wakefield Hospice, with the aim to raise as much as possible for patients and their families living with an end of life diagnosis. Wakefield Hospice annually needs to raise 4 million. We would not be able to achieve this without the help of local people going out of their way to raise funds through taking part in events like the Wakefield 10k.Our 1k Mini Run is perfect for new runners or anyone who wants to enjoy a professional race set up over 1k. The course starts on the closed road and then runs into Clarence Park and is multi-terrain. This event is open to all ages and abilities.
Entry includes:Entry to the raceRace numberDisposal chip timing tagWakefield 10k Technical Finishers T-shirtAll mini runners receive a professional runner number and a finisher’s medal.10k – Entrants must be 15 or over. This cannot be adjusted due to the rules of UK Athletics that the race runs under. All 15 to 17 year olds wishing to take part will need parental or guardian permission.Mini Run – anyone can take part. Children under 11 need to run with an adult (18 or over) and have their parent or guardian’s permission to take part. 11 to 17 year olds can take part on their own, but will require parental or guardian permission.Race packs:If you entered before 15th March 2019 your race pack including your race number and timing chip, will be posted out to you. If your entry was completed after this you will need to pick up your race number and timing chip on the day from the registration tent.
The Wakefield 10k and 1k Mini Run all take place in Thornes Park Athetics Stadium and Thornes Park. Please see below for the map of the location.
To improve the flow of runners through the start area, and throughout the course, we will be grouping runners together based on their expected run time. Runners will be grouped in under 45 minutes, 45.01 to 55 minutes, 55.01 to 65 minutes and 65.01 minutes and over. These groups will have different race numbers and will be called to the start line by number colour.
