Running the Rapids
24 August 2019
Every day you lace up your sneakers and put foot to pavement, you’re breaking down personal barriers to get to your best self. By Running the Rapids, you’re giving others the helping-hand they need to break their barriers. Thank you for helping us build up our community as you build up yourself! Running the Rapids is a non-profit organization that will donate a portion of funds raised to organizations in our community who support and encourage health and well-being for all people. Meet the organizations supported through your participation.
PUSH A LITTLE HARDER. GO A LITTLE FARTHER. Join us for the second annual Running the Rapids Half Marathon, 5K and introducing the Half Marathon Relay! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or wanting to try something new, we welcome all! Twist around tall timbers, dip by blue waters and circle one of the best running passes in the Grand Rapids and Cohasset communities!

Yes, we will have access to the restrooms at Portage Park, and will also provide portable bathrooms to accommodate additional runners. We will also have portable restrooms along the route as well. Is the event dog friendly? In order to accommodate as many runners as possible, we are not able to allow dogs to run either event. Are strollers permitted during the event? Strollers are not permitted during either the half marathon or 5K events Where can I pick up my packet? Packet pick up will be available the evening before the race at the Itasca County Family YMCA from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. If you are not able to pick up your packet the day before the race, you can also pick it up Saturday morning prior to the race. Will there be any food or water at the end of the race? Yes, our sponsor Super One Foods will be providing fresh fruit, as well as a variety of carbohydrate-based products to help all runners recover from the event.
